Process
We begin with the site. Working with our clients, we perform feasibility studies to verify the suitability for the homeowner’s anticipated use. We use an holistic approach to look for opportunities and maximize the location for long term performance.
Using the insight gained from the site, we explore interior relationships between the various spaces our client’s require. We develop a model to help client’s visualize their home and approve for preliminary pricing.
Working closely with the intended general contractor, our office makes adjustments to the model as needed. Once client’s are comfortable with the model and projected budget, we proceed to develop technical drawings.
Our technical drawings incorporate structural, mechanical, electrical, and material detailing to clarify construction requirements. They document the majority of finishes and allow contractors to further refine their estimates, giving our clients the information they need to move forward.
Performance
Once our client is satisfied with the model and the updated budget, we finalize documents for permitting and construction.
After ground is broken, our office remains engaged with the project throughout construction. Always working from the general to the specific, we collaborate with the various trades to find the best possible result. We refine the hundreds of options for any given decision, down to a selection of the best few, for our clients to choose from.
We weave art and technology to find inspiration and we pursue elegance and innovation whenever possible. I/O Design Office uses the latest in technology and fabrication methods to create quality solutions, solutions that make each of our client’s homes unique- tailor fit for their requests and needs.

Who we are
Douglas Fletcher
Principal/Owner
With nearly 30 years working in the field of architecture, Douglas has worked on projects all over the United States and internationally.
Douglas works closely with clients to understand their goals and provide the best options as they collaborate on the design of their home. He has a particular interest in exploring fabrication techniques and the application of technology in new ways. His ability to translate complex construction challenges into understandable options is one of the things clients appreciate most.
Using lessons learned on very high end homes, Douglas coordinates with field personnel to resolve issues that inevitably arise from the process of building. His knowledge of design and construction allows him to anticipate issues and advocate for clients while creating the best possible environments to live in.
Nicole Norris
Principal/Owner
With over 20 years of experience working on high end, modern homes, Nicole brings a passion for design with vast resources for virtually any situation. Her expertise in design helps to balance color, texture, and light for every space.
Nicole looks for unusual combinations. Her primary interest is in finding new ways to create modern and contemporary homes that are warm and inviting. When working with clients, she listens carefully to understand exactly what homeowners are looking for and creates an environment of collaboration that lets everyone engage in the design process.
Her experience includes very high end homes in Oklahoma, Colorado, Florida, Arizona, and countless locations throughout Minnesota. While her background is primarily interior design, clients often request her help with all aspects of their homes. She has an eye for quality and can find exceptional options for almost any budget.
