Kickstarter- Artwork 01

November 08, 2017

In the coming days, we'll be launching a Kickstarter fundraising campaign!  It will be a showcase of my artwork and offer prints that are produced in a very unusual way.  Using a printer in Germany, images are printed either directly on to aluminum or printed on ultra HD photo paper with extremely high resolution and then sandwiched between aluminum panel and acrylic glass!  The end result is a presentation that is printed full bleed to the edge of the panel and comes with integral hanging rails that make the artwork look like it's floating on the wall.  Very cool!

The campaign on Kickstarter can be found at this link.

And here are links to the Rewards that we're offering:

A Modern Home in Rural Minnesota

September 10, 2017

When we first met with the client, we had a good feeling about this one.  Having spent 35 years of building homes in Texas as a contractor, the husband and wife were very familiar with the process of design and building.  As we worked from the very earliest concepts through to the developed schematic, their experience and clarity of decision making was invaluable.

The property is located on the north side of a lake with nearly 1800 feet of lakeshore.  The landscape down to the lake beautifully undulates, accentuated with old growth trees and a large pond that feeds into the lake.  As we walked the site with the clients, one place felt very special with its framed views of the pond and the lake, its orientation to the sloping hillside, and its performative relationship with sun and wind.

Nicole and I tried out several ideas until we came up with a very simple plan.  Working collaboratively with the clients, each of us had moments of inspiration that added to the final result- a beautiful home!  Designed with entertaining in mind, the great room is an open plan connected with the kitchen, dining room and a gallery exhibiting wood turnings (the husband is a talented artist, creating amazing vases, bowls and vessels in his workshop).  Also on the main level, the master suite is situated with stunning lake views and natural light for every room.  On the lower level, 3 additional bedrooms and a spa complete with sauna face the lake with walkout sliding doors.

This will become a special place as it develops.  We're very excited to see this home rise out of the ground!!  See more here!
